The annual general meeting

Each year, ISOC-AU holds an annual general meeting open to its membership. Office bearers report on the year's advocacy activity, the committee is elected or re-elected, and members can raise questions directly with the people running the chapter. Minutes of every AGM are recorded and made available to members afterward, so decisions taken in the room are traceable after the fact.

Annual reports

Alongside the AGM, ISOC-AU prepares an annual report summarising the year's activity across all seven working areas — submissions made, positions taken, liaison activity with the global Internet Society, and the state of the organisation itself. It's written for members first, but treated as a public document.

Audited financial statements

As a membership-funded non-profit, ISOC-AU's financial statements are prepared and audited each financial year in line with the obligations of an incorporated association. We describe this as a standing practice rather than publish live figures here — members receive the audited statements directly as part of the annual reporting cycle, consistent with how a member-governed body should be accountable to the people funding it.

Why this matters for a policy voice

An organisation that asks regulators and platforms to be transparent has a weak argument if it isn't transparent itself. Publishing minutes, reports and audited financials isn't a compliance formality for ISOC-AU — it's the same standard we apply to everyone we write a submission about, applied to ourselves first.
