Membership
ISOC-AU's positions are only as strong as the membership standing behind them. Joining doesn't require a technical background — it requires an interest in how the internet you use every day gets governed.
Membership classes
Individual membership
Open to anyone with an interest in internet policy — technologists, academics, small business owners, or simply people who use the internet and want a say in how it's regulated. Individual members can attend the AGM, vote on chapter matters, and stand for the committee.
Organisational membership
Open to businesses, educational institutions, industry bodies and other organisations with a stake in Australian internet policy. Organisational members nominate a representative to participate in chapter activity and governance on the organisation's behalf.
What membership gets you

Members vote at the AGM on committee elections and major decisions — the chapter runs on member consent, not a fixed leadership.

Members can contribute directly to submissions and statements in any of the seven working areas that match their interest or expertise.

Members receive AGM notices, minutes and annual reports directly, ahead of and beyond what's made public.

Membership connects you, indirectly, to the global Internet Society and its network of chapters working the same problems worldwide.

Individual members are eligible to stand for election to the committee that runs ISOC-AU day to day.

For organisations, membership signals a working relationship with Australia's internet-user advocacy chapter.
