AuDA Logo .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) is the policy authority and industry self-regulatory body for the .au domain space, formed in 1999 as the culmination of efforts since 1995. In December 2000, the Australian Government formally endorsed auDA as the appropriate body to administer the .au domain space, and in October 2001, ICANN recognised auDA as the suitable operator for .au under a Sponsorship Agreement. auDA develops and implements domain name policy, licenses 2LD registry operators, accredits and licenses registrars, implements consumer safeguards, facilitates .au Dispute Resolution Policy, and represents .au at ICANN and other international fora. 

 

AusRegistry Logo AusRegistry As the current Registry Operator, AusRegistry manages all current and open second level .au Domain Names, including: .com.au, .net.au, .id.au, .asn.au and .org.au. It also manages the restricted government (.gov.au) and education Domain Names (.edu.au). AusRegistry is responsible for creating and driving the software and infrastructure to ensure the stability and integrity of Internet operations in Australia. This includes running the WHOIS servers within the .au Domain Name, which allow for Domain Name registration details to be searched. AusRegistry also operates the .au primary name server, which is the master name server within the .au Domain Name system zone.
