• The Australasian Consumer Fraud Taskforce (ACFT) launched National Consumer Fraud Week on 2 March 2009, to increase public awareness of scams and educate consumers about scams generally and the steps they can take to recognise them and protect themselves.

• The 33rd ICANN meeting at Cairo, Egypt, took place on 2-7 November 2008. ISOC-AU Treasurer Cheryl Langdon-Orr is Chair of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), and her report to the meeting is here.

• 03 Apr 2008: The President of ISOC-AU, Tony Hill, spoke at the Local 2020 Summit - Foundations of Open: Technology and Digital Knowledge, organised by ACT Senator Kate Lundy. See his Submission on IPv6 to the ACT Local 2020 Summit (.doc, 51 Kb).

• auDA has launched a series of podcasts at Let's Talk Net, to provide a practical guide to understanding the Internet for both consumers and business. You can hear or download the talks from the website.

• AEShareNet podcasts on creativity and the global information society, recorded at the launch of the RSA Adelphi Intellectual Property Charter in Australia, 2 March 2006

• ISOC-AU and the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate and render mutual assistance in promoting Internet standards, infrastructure and service development (more detail ...)

• Internet Governance: A Primer by Akash Kapur - this downloadable book, foreworded by Vinton G. Cerf, offers an overview of Internet governance - history, issues and actors involved, social and economic ramifications, and steps to enhance participation of developing countries in Internet governance.

• Professionalism in ICT Conference, 23 March 2005: ISOC-AU director Kevin Karp reports on a meeting convened by Senator Helen Coonan to examine means for improving the level of professionalism in the ICT industry.

• Spam, spam, spam... links on unsolicited bulk email. Spam is now illegal in Australia. Visit the ACA spam information site to find out about spam laws, spam reduction, internet security tips, and how to report spam.

• Develop Internet understanding: the RDN Virtual Training Suite is a set of free online tutorials designed to help improve Internet information literacy and IT skills.

• Maximising benefits of the Internet: ISOC-AU members developed Thirteen Key Points for maximising the potential of the Internet for the benefit of all Australians. At the last election we sought comments from the political parties and this page has links to their replies.

• Security: The System and Network Security organisation offers a list of the Top 20 security flaws and a free scanner to test your own systems for the top 20 problems.

• E-mail for All: CIRCIT@RMIT reports on the issues surrounding universal electronic mail - see E-mail for All - ISOC-AU is hosting the report for CIRCIT@RMIT, which closed down in July 2002.

• Pandora, Australia's Web Archive, recognises ISOC-AU's website as one of research or cultural significance.

• The Internet Report catalogues Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) documents, RFCs and Internet Drafts, describing the technology, protocols and procedures used in Internet operation.

• OnTheInternet is the online magazine from ISOC that looks at the impact of the Internet upon the world.
