ISOC-AU Events

We believe that the social side of networking is just as important as the professional and infrastructure side. We organise a number of events throughout the year to educate, communicate, and simply bring people together who have a common focus on Internet development - such as get-togethers to discuss ISOC-AU issues, presentations from Internet experts, conferences for in-depth study of a developing interests, or just enjoying a meal together after a formal meeting. Here are some events we have been involved with over the years.

30 September 2011: 'Request for What?? - Participating in Internet Standards Processes', presented by Narelle Clark, Vice-President of ISOC-AU for the ACS Telecommunications SIG. 23-24 May 2011: INET Columbo 2011: Internet for All - Meeting Agenda. The talks: * NBN - Taking Internet to the People - Holly Raiche * The Impact of Social Media with Mobile Devices - Skeeve Stevens * IPv6 Security - Skeeve Stevens April 2011: 'The Internet's Off Switch' by Narelle Clark, Vice-President of ISOC-AU, was presented at meetings jointly sponsored with IEEE's Society on Social Implications of Technology. It covers the range of mechanisms, both technical and regulatory, used to block or interrupt Internet use over the last year. April 2011: NBN: A Guide for Consumers, was launched on 8 April 2011 by Senator Stephen Conroy, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy. The Guide was written by ISOC-AU ED Holly Raiche and Directors Narelle Clark and Dr Paul Brooks for ACCAN, in cooperation with Jonathan Gadir, Senior Policy Advisory ACCAN. It answers common questions about the Internet, broadband and the NBN.
